Description of the practice

The university Technology Incubator of the Slovak University of Technics (STU) aims at providing support to enterpreneurs- beginners in the field of technics and technologies. The persons interested in building a firm may apply for the program titled Start-up Office, and the existing companies may become an incubed firm within the InQb program.

Policy context

The InQb is a workplace of the Slovak University of Technics in Bratislava aiming its activities to supporting of enterpreneurs- beginners. The newly- established companies are provided with more favourable rents for lower prices (compared to the common market prices), plus a packet of supporting services. The support is provided to all clients with no company established, and the enterpreneurs with their companies being established only recently. The incubator was established thanks to the financial support of the EU funds, within the Grant Scheme for innovation and technology development- INTEG (program PHARE CBC Slovakia- Austria).

Labour market context

The vision of the InQb is to be a key institution providing support to new technology, innovative companies in the region. The goal of the UTI is to support knowledge economy by connecting the science, research and innovations with the enterpreneuship practice, to incresase the level of competitiveness of the region and to contribute to the goals of the Lisbon Strategy to be met.

Activities

Programs aimed at providing support to business conduct:

  • Start-up: dedicated to the clients- students or university graduates- who are planning to establish an innovative company, which would focus on providing products and services in the field of technics and technologies. The advantages brought within this program: free usage (for the period of 3 months) of an equipped Office with the area of 15 m2, technical facilities (PC, multifunctional facilities), internet connection, a meeting room with the capacity of 20 people, advisory services provided in terms of company establishment, business plan drafting, etc.
  • InQb: dedicated to clients who are planning to establish a company, or who have already established an innovative company focused on the provision of products and services in the field of technics and Technologies. The advantages brought within this program: more favourable rent of the offices, utilisation of the technical equipment, possibility to use the incubator address as a seat of the company, possibility to use the meeting rooms with the capcity of 20 people, possibility to rent other meeting and conference rooms for more favourable rates, internet and phone connection, an access to the university laboratories, promotion of the company within the incubator activities, provision of advisory services…

InQb virtual:dedicated to the clients who would like to use the advantages of an InQb client, but without renting the offices.
